Do pools really need stabilizer?
Pool stabilizers are important to maintain a clean swimming pool. Along with other factors for keeping a swimming pool clean, like pH, total alkalinity, and water hardness, pool stabilizers need to be adequately regulated and tested.
Should I add stabilizer before chlorine?
If you add the stabilizer first, then the chlorine shock you add will not break down quite as quickly in sunlight, but will also be less effective.
Why does my pool have a low stabilizer?
Low stabilizer in a pool is a common issue that can be easily fixed. When a pool is exposed to sunlight, chlorine breaks down and no longer sanitizes causing the sanitizer to be low. This happens quickly and on sunny days the chlorine level can go down to an unacceptable level in a matter of hours.
Do you need to use pool stabilizer if your pool is chlorine free?
If your pool is chlorine free, then you do not need to use stabilizer. If the stabilizer is not used in conjunction with chlorine or is too low, then half of the chlorine in your pool water will be destroyed within only one hour.
Do you need a stabilizer for an oxygen pool?
Oxygen Pools has developed a system that allows your pool under 20,000 gallons to be a chlorine free pool. If your pool is chlorine free, then you do not need to use stabilizer. Oxygen Pools uses a Dynamic Oxygen Generator along with a weekly dose of non-toxic, nonchlorine activated oxygen instead of using toxic chlorine.
Is there a pool stabilizer alternative to cyanuric acid?
Pool stabilizer also known as cyanuric acid is used in swimming pool water to bond with the free chlorine. Once it has bonded with the free chlorine, it protects the chlorine from being destroyed by the sun’s UV rays. The question is though can you use a pool stabilizer alternative instead of using cyanuric acid.

Is it good to use pool stabilizer with chlorine?
Although pool stabilizer can provide some amazing benefits in protecting your chlorine and extending its lifespan, the downside is that the effectiveness (or cleaning power) of the chlorine is decreased. When pool stabilizer bonds with chlorine, the chlorine’s ability to kill bacteria (and therefore sanitize) is somewhat limited.
What should the free chlorine level be in a pool?
Free chlorine levels should be at least 1.0 ppm. Cyanuric Acid retains the chlorine in the water for a longer period of time. Stabilizer is added to some chlorine to protect from breaking down – which occurs from UV rays. When the pool stabilizer levels are low, your chlorine won’t last as long.
When to add stabilizer before or after swimming?
Supposed to be a scorcher today and I’m trying to get everything in balance early this morning before my swimming festivities. I need to add around 6 oz of dry stabilizer via the sock method and I’m wondering if I should do this before or after I swim?
